Our topic for Spring 1 is:
How do we play?
Our topic this term will allow us to research into how toys are made as well as looking at toys and games of the past and how they have changed over the years.
This half term we will focusing on writing a recount and using time connectives to sequence our recount. We will also be looking at the Gruffalo story and how to use speech marks in text as well as looking into the text and the different characters.
We will be focussing on the spelling patterns that the children will be bringing home as spellings. As well as any sounds the children are struggling with. Please continue to practise these at home ready for the spelling test on a Wednesday morning. Results of their spellings will be stuck into their home diaries on Thursday.
This half term children will be focusing on the following areas of mathematics:
· Number: Division

Children will be taught to:

· Use printing to create art.

Our focus this half term is on everyday materials and distinguishing between the object and the material that it is made of. The children will learn to identify and name a variety of everyday materials and how they are used.
The children will be able to research and learn about toys of the past and how toys and games have developed over the years. If you have any old toys at home or any pictures of old toys you are willing to bring in for the children to learn about it would be very much appreciated.
As well as looking at the history of toys, the children will be looking at variety of toys from different countries. As well as looking at the similarities and differences between their toys and ours.
In our PE lessons we are going to focus on gymnastics. During our sessions the children will develop their physical coordination as well as improving their strength, balance and body control through floor exercises and using equipment.
